Last Friday Mimi's grandpa turned 91 years old. Yesterday afternoon we all went over to help celebrate. We brought over Chinese take out as requested by grandpa and a birthday cake plus presents. Mimi decided that grandpa should have a Finding Nemo cake and that grandpa should be 5 years old. That's what is was, Nemo cake and a number 5 candle. We did the 3 f''s - food, fun and family. What more could one ask for?

NEW BLOGGER SITE
This afternoon while at gymnastic class, mama was talking with Lindsay (another mom) and found out about this neat web site for hairstyles for little girls. Unfortunately Mimi's hair is still not quite long enough yet to do some of the styles but mama thinks that she will give it a try. The website is called http://www.shedoeshair.blogspot.com She does the site with step by step instructions.

TREND SETTER

This past weekend our very good friends Allyn, Teri and Samantha came to stay with us for Memorial Day Holiday. We all enjoyed their company so much. During their stay here the girls decided to stage a wedding for us. Mimi played the part of the groom and Samantha was the bride. It was way too cute and funny at the same time. Princess Teri was the Officiator and both the girls promised to be best forever friends and play nice with each other and share their toys. Mimi had to think twice when she was asked to share her food. We all know how much she loves to eat. Then Princess Teri asked Samantha to promise to bring out the femine side of Mimi and I think it is working. Yesterday afternoon Erin came over and like Samantha she too likes to dress up. Together with Mimi they put on a fashion show for mama dancing to the Disney Princess music. Maybe Samantha started a new trend at the Putney household ya think?

LIFE WITH MOTHER
Mimi: Mama, you know what I'm going to be when I'm your age?
Mama: No. What are you going to be?
Mimi: I'm going to be YOUR MOM!
Life around our house is absolutely never dull for one minute. ;-)

LIFE WITH FATHER
Before going to bed tonight Mimi popped her head into papa's office to say good night.
Mimi: Goodnight father!
Papa: Father!? Why are you calling me father?
Mimi: Because dads are the same as father.
It has always been papa, daddy, dad, or daaad especially when she is perturb with papa and has her eyes rolled way back so that she can see that back of her (melon - a word she picked up from Keri) head.
As far as we can figure out, they must be talking about Father's Day in the month of June.
A Happy Fathers Day to one and all.

PRETEND NEIGHBORS
After coming home from school today mama and Mimi sat down for a afterschool snack and Mimi started to talk on the subject of neighbors.
Mimi: Mama, Sara is our neighbor.
Mama (trying to figure out which friend): Sara who?
Mimi (starting to get a little annoyed by mama's senior moment): YOU KNNOOOW!
Mama: Oh yeah, but she does not live close to us (Sara lives in another Funky Town called Kent).
Mimi (still annoyed): Maahm!!! She's just a "pretend neighbor"
Mama: Oh. OK.
Mimi: Blake and Erin are my neighbors too.
Mama: How about Samantha, Katie and Naomi? Are they you're neighbors?
Mimi: You mean my Disney Samantha?
Mama: Yeah.
Mimi: Yeah she's my neighbor, but no wait (after some thought), no, they're my SPECIAL FRIENDS!!!
All together now: AAAWWW!!!

KIDS AND SHEEP

This morning on our way to swimming lessons, Mimi and mama past the sheep farm. Hopefully they will be out when Sam comes to visit this weekend.
The other day while mama shopping for plants at the aboretum, mama made mention of how we live in the country. The lady mama was talking to said"I never thought of us living in the country". Although we live in a devloped area of Funky Town, we are surrounded by rural areas such as the sheep farm above.
Mama did have the good sense to keep her mouth shut and not say to the woman that back in Southern California, Mar Vista in particular, there are not a whole lot of farm animals around. Maybe at one time there was but not now, nor do we have commercials that are advertising tractors.
Pictured with Mimi is her swimming buddy Lila. Today Ms Grethchen was not here. We had Ms Margaret instead. She is really nice too.
