Yep, yep, yep, Ratatouille and family are here for a visit. They will be getting their eviction notice come next Tuesday.
I found out that Shelly (Zoe's mom) had them in their house. There is a golf course on the west side and not one but two greenbelts running parallel to each other thus enclosing our neighborhood. There are some big plans in the works to get rid of the golf course and put in houses, then on the opposite side of us they are planning to put in a huge park on the other side of the greenbelt. As for us, our greenbelt will stay the same as the school is right behind us. Then four houses down is the run off drainage pond.
With all of this around us, one is bound to have mice/rat problems. A couple of months ago I heard some scratching noise inside our air vent leading to the upstairs. I told dad about it and he went down into the crawl space and said he saw nothing. But I know what I heard. Never underestimate a woman's intuition. I knew something was not right but again dad said "I did not see anything down there". So when Shelly told me about her problem and gave me the phone number. I called. Mainly because #1-I heard the scratching noise, which has since stopped. #2-We live right next to the greenbelt where wild critters like to hang out and #3-we also live 4 houses down from a disgusting drainage pond where rats like to hang out.
Shannon came out yesterday afternoon after school. I sent Mimi down to Blake's as she does not need to know about this. She thought that it was rather cool to skip out on her piano lessons. Shannon was down in our crawl space no longer than 15 seconds when he said "I hope you have a strong stomach" and produced a humongous and I mean HUMONGOUS DEAD RAT! I screamed bloody murder. That rat was almost as big as our cat Stanley I kid you not. Also I went on a rampage around our neighborhood and warned all of our immediate neighbors. It took until today to get my fingernails and toenails out of our ceiling. I called Brandy who lives across the street as fast as I could get a grip and told her my story. Shannon was out at her house today.
Sure enough, Ratatouille came to visit her house too. However since she had a cat, no rat was found but there were droppings which is evidence that they had been there.
It still gives me the willies just knowing that they are still down there. All I can say is......thank goodness for melatonin and good wine. Slept good last night and I will sleep good tonight.
