We're Off To Seattle

Ready or not moving day arrived. The movers came on Tuesday. Mimi assumed responsibility for supervising the movers (telling people what to do is one of her more prominent talents).

The task of keeping Mimi and Ollie and Stanley (the feline members of the family) out of the movers way proved too daunting for Mama. She took Mimi and had one last lunch with our friend Maggie at Pacos, our favorite Mexican restaraunt. Papa stayed and braved the whirlwind of keeping up with the movers. At the end of the day an exhausted Putney family camped out for the night on our bedroom floor.

Wednesday morning a still exhausted Mama and Papa cleaned the house. If we ever suffer from temperary insanity and do this again we will hire a house cleaner. Finally in the afternoon we bid our farewells to our home and departed LA. We drove to Santa Barbara and had dinner at Woody's with our good friends the Berris's. Mimi taught Katie the sublime art of giving zerbits.

Thursday we drove up the 101 to the bay area through wine country. I felt like I was driving through one of the pictures on those old fashioned fruit crates. We had a Chinese dinner at East Ocean Seafood with Rose, who we met in China, and her husband Tom.

And we stayed spent the night with the Hayes's: Jeff , Teresa, Julian and Mei Ling, who we also met in China. Mimi and Mei Ling hit it off like they had been sisters for eons.

Friday we drove to Ashland, Oregon where I now sit in a hotel room chronicalizing our trip for prosperity. Here's Moma and Mimi with Mt. Shasta in the background.

Beautiful Mt. Shasta.
