HAPPY 14th ANNIVERSARY!

CHINESE MOON FESTIVAL PERFORMANCES

The girls really enjoyed the Lantern Parade where they got to take their centerpiece lanterns and parade around the restaurant with the older girls leading the way.

CHINESE MOON FESTIVAL

Last Saturday evening we carpooled with Rhonda and her family up to Cascade Chinese Restaurant in Issaquah to celebrate the Chinese Moon Festival with the FCC up here in Washington. The food was pretty good once it got to our table. It was late in coming and when it did we were all quite famished. We all were so hungry that when the food arrived the lazy susan was in a constant whirl. Around and around it went. It went so fast that it nearly flew off the table.
Mimi and Elsie are like two peas in a pod, Emma on the other hand is more of the dignified one. She refuses to lower herself to Mimi and Elsie's standards.
When the dinner was over was when the performances started. The girls really liked the dancing a lot however when it came to the slide presentation that was when they lost Mimi. Elsie was not far behind Mimi. they were starting to lose her too. Plus it was getting quite late (9:00 p.m.). We had to leave because it was about a 30-45 minute drive home. We did get to see a little bit of it though.
Apparently there are 3 adopted Chinese girls who are now in their late teens and are on the board of the FCC up here in Washington. They had the opportunity to go to China this past summer and work in some of the orphanages there and they were sharing their experiences via a slide presentation. There were pictures of them at the Great Wall, pictures of the Terracota Warriors, the local street market, visiting with the local people in their homes and of course the babies they helped to take care of. They all said that this was a eye opening experience for them and one that they will never ever forget.

OUT OF PLACE

I saw this car in our neighborhood the other day and just had to take
a picture. Because although it is just the cutest little car that I
ever saw, it is so out of place up here in Wasington state. In case
one did not know this, we do not have any beaches unless you go waayy
out to the other side of the islands and maybe then one could wave
hello to Sara Palin up in Alaska or maybe while you're doing that, you
could wave hello to the Russians as well.

As it turns out, the owner of the car is a CEO for Taco Del Mar and
this is a company car. The owner says that her teenage daughter is
embrassed by it but her son loves it.

MIMI AND EMMA

Due to the fact that the school broke up the "Barkley Wood Gang" Mimi
made a new friend/classmate by the name of Emma. Although the kids are
not supposed to share lunches (allergies), Mimi tells me that she and
Emma like to sneak behind the teachers backs and share their lunches
together. Those little stinkers. Now mind you, although Mimi and her gang of friends were broken up and put into different classrooms does not mean that she does not play with them on the playground or at home, she still has her little circle of friends but now her circle is expanding a bit more and the same is for the rest of her friends.

RECESS

"Member????" You "member" what life was like on the playground when
all you had to worry about was when PE or the next recess going to happen or even when was lunch time?

PIANO LESSONS

Every Monday afternoon Mimi has her piano lesson with Ms Celia. Can't
tell you how happy I am to have found a teacher who is fairly
inexpensive, happy disposition and most of all sooo patient with our
Mimi. Especially when Mimi has a new piano piece to learn, which is
NOW. It darn near kills me to have to listen her music in the
beginning however once she is over the hump she's really pretty good
at what she plays. That's when her confidence in herself gets raised.
It's just the part of challenging herself with each new song that she
dislikes "
Mo-I'm, I hate challenges!" However on the other hand she does not
Like to be beaten at anything and enjoys showing off to her friends.
