SPRINGTIME

Actually it is still winter but the newscaster says that we reached a record high of 51 degrees today. Woo Hoo!!! It really was very nice outside. So much different than it was a couple of months ago. The other day I noticed that my tulips and daffodills are starting to grow. In a couple of months we should have some real pretty flowers in our backyard again. As an update on our Ollie, he really wanted to come with Butch and I when we went to pick Mimi up from school. I had a talk with him like I always do and he followed us just up to the part of where the trail leads into the schoolyard then turned around and went home to wait for us to come home. What an amazing cat we have!

OUR OLLIE

Our cat Oliver Hardy aka Ollie is just about the best darn cat anyone could have! He is a very loving, sensitive and motherly or fatherly (since he is a boy) cat to everyone including Butch. When my mom came home and stayed with us for about one month after having hip surgery, he stayed right by her side both day and night. Whenever Mimi is sick in bed, he will constantly check in on her to make sure she is ok. There are times when Butch will drive Ollie nuts with his barking or nipping of his tail but Ollie puts up with him. Sometimes I think that Ollie likes playing with Butch too. There are times when Ollie will follow Butch into another room just so that Butch can and will annoy him. I know that Ollie knows that Butch had a procedure done at the vet the other day. Since Butch came home yesterday afternoon Ollie has been keeping a watchful eye of him. This afternoon as usual I walked Butch and the kids to school. Ollie who has been keeping a watchful eye on Butch followed behind us all of the way. Man did it cause a ruckus!!! The older kids were just coming out of the building just after we arrived and saw Ollie. The girls just shrieked with excitement at seeing a cat at school. Of course Mimi and her friends were right in the middle of all of this excitement. Mimi was proudly telling everyone "This is MY CAT". Ollie on the other hand loved all of the attention but at the same time trying to watch out for Butch. When all was said and done, the three of us Butch, Ollie and myself walked quietly home.

MIMI AND COMPANY

Today is one morning other that Friday where we do not have to get up early and be somewhere. Which worked out great for Shelley and Keri this morning. Keri had to take Bailey for a swimming lesson and Shelley's little boy Braden is sick. Therefore both Zoe and Blake came over to the house for a pizza lunch and then they were off to school but not before a game of wii was played.

PRINCESS DANCE

Today Halle hung out with Mimi all day while her mom Brandy and little brother Mc Callister were at the doctor's office. After school the girls plus Erin put a show on for all of us.

RECUPERATING

Yesterday morning Mimi and I took Butch into see the vet. He was scheduled to get the works done on him. Poor little fella. If he only knew what was in store for him. He got his doo dads removed, ears cleanned out, a chip put in, update on all of his shots. Fortunate for him this was all done without his knowledge. This afternoon while Mimi was in school, I was able to go and break him out of " jail". I tell you he could not get out of there fast enough to suit him! The nurse told me that he might still be a little lethargic because of the anesthesia. HA! HA! HA! He was running around the house like a puppy on a overdose of speed! All I could see was a blur of a furball whizzing all around the house. Meanwhile Mimi beep bopp'in around the house singing "who let the dogs out?! Wuh! Wuh!"

NEW SAYINGS

Every now and then Mimi will surprise us with a new saying. This evening we watched "Casper" all the way until the credits came on along with a rock 'n' roll song. As usual Mimi was beep bopp'in around saying "Let's boogie!!!" This was something she learned from her music teacher Ms Hinami.

DANCING SHOES

Dad was informed this evening when he came home that he will have to brush up on his dancing and get his tux ready for this year's annual father/daughter ball at our local community center this coming March. This will mark Mimi's very first father/daughter ball. Although dad loves Mimi with all of his heart and soul, he was not quite jumping for joy as he hates to dance. He says that it is because he does not know how to dance. Maybe he will take some lessons ya think??? You know it's not too late to teach an old dog new tricks.
