ANOTHER THEN AND NOW

Like I said before, who knew then that our Mimi would turn out to be one silly and goofy little girl? I rest my case.

MIMI'S CAFE

While visiting with grandma and grandpa yesterday, Mimi played waitress (she loves playing that game whenever we go to visit). Around and around she went with pad and pencil in hand taking everyone's orders. Finally mama asked "Where is our food? We are quite hungry." To which Mimi replied "It's cooking in the kitchen (while pointing to the bedroom). Finally she went to get our pretend food and decided to throw it up in the air and said for everyone to "Grab it!!!". We could not stop laughing for quite some time.

MIMI AND COMPANY

We went to Sara's house last night. Pictured here is Mimi spending a silly, relaxing time with her friends Ling Ling and Sara who by the way just turned 8 and is showing the girls her new Nintendo DS that she recieved with the money her grandpa gave to her.

MAMA'S OASIS

This is just the beginning of mama's backyard oasis once papa gets the furniture put together.

FARMER GREGORY AND HIS ASSISTANT MIMI

About a week ago while mama was washing dishes, she looked out the window and what do her wondering eyes does she see? Flowers blooming in our backyard!!! She has no idea what kind they are but they are rather pretty don't you think?

Mama's new project this year is to work on making our backyard an oasis. She has been busy checking out prices on foliage and patio furniture. Last weekend was spent going to buy all of this stuff. First we went to Big Lots to buy the gazebo (we got the last one there), then on to Fred Meyers for the backyard swing. Tuesday afternoon we bought the Japanese Weeping Cherry tree from Costco (something mama always wanted). Mama also bought a apple tree from Costco a litte while back.

All in all we spent just a little over $600.00 for everything. Not bad I think.

Today Mimi decided she was going to work with papa in the backyard planting our trees. She also decided that she needed to take the pick and make holes in the grass for the worms to come out in order for the Robins to eat them.

Next Saturday provided that weather is good, mama is planning to make the trip to the Covington Creek Nursery in Auburn and look into buying some shrubs for her garden project. That night we will get together with our China friends at Godfather's pizza in Auburn.

THEN AND NOW

This morning mama was looking for Mimi's immunization record to take to the new doctor's office next week and found Mimi's picture that was sent to us just before going to China to pick her up.
Mama remembers that day when we recieved it like it was yesterday. She was seeing patients in the Westchester area (near Hughes Parkway center and LAX) when she recieved the phone call from papa who said that he had just recieved the fed ex package in the mail at work.
Fortunately mama was finished with worked by 11:30 that morning (many of her patients had MD appointments and cancelled my nursing visits). Therefore mama raced downtown to papa's office in L.A. and we had lunch together at McCormick and Schmicks. Together we looked at the pictures and information that was given to us.
Judging from the picture who knew that Mimi is such a funny, silly little girl? She looks soooo serious. Everything that was in the information sheet was right on the mark. It said that she is talkative, abundance of energy, deep sleeper, likes to go to the park (we did that everyday after coming home from China), likes battery operated toys (slept with her battery operated toy glow worm for almost a year).

PLAYING MARRIED

The other night after dinner, Blake came over to play. Mama was washing the dishes when she looked up to see Mimi and Blake pretending that they were married. Blake was laying on the storage ottoman with his left arm out and the right arm holding the blanket open saying "Mimi, you are supposed to lay next to me!!!" Mimi replied by saying "I'm fine over here on the sofa!!!"

Mama tells Mimi that she should keep that attitude for a looooong, long time.
