Now that we are back from camping it is back the daily routine again. Tomorrow Mimi and mama will go to the Aquatic Center for her early morning swimming lessons. This time Mimi has a male teacher and there are 4 kids in the class. Mimi is the only girl in her class. Today mama noticed that the teacher was not giving Mimi the same amount of attention as he did with the boys. The teacher did not pay any attention to Mimi and seemed to just focus on the boys. I don't think it was intentional though. I do however notice that the boys tend to get more attention in any class than the girls. Should this happen again tomorrow mama will make mention of it.
After swimming lessons tomorrow we will head over to the library for our weekly date with Erin and her family. The kids just love storytelling. Then afterward we will go to a local park for a picnic lunch. That should be loads of fun.

CHECK UP
Once again it is check up time at the dentist for Mimi and the good news is.....no cavities!!! The dentist and hygenist said that Mimi's teeth are perfectly white. We have another check up in 6 months.
MIMI'S FIRST CAMP OUT
Man!!! What a weekend we had!!! This was Mimi's very first camp out and we all had loads of fun. Papa's childhood buddy Tom and his wife Eloise invited us to join them and several of their friends on a camping trip to Ohanapecosh which is on the east side of Mount Rainier.
When Eloise sent us a list of who will be coming, mama did not see any kids on the list. When we arrived to the campground in the late afternoon (Mimi had gymnastics in the morning), we were happy to see that another family Mike and Patricia brought along their six year old boy Benjamin aka Ben. They were quite happy to see that Mimi came along too. Mike said that they were told that Mimi was 3 years old and boy were they happy to see that Mimi is 5 and could play with Ben. Mike also has a son David from a previous marriage. David looked to be around 23 years old and the kids loved playing with him and vice versa. David loved giving "noogies" to the kids. Ben absolutely detests them but Mimi really likes it. Go figure.
Mimi and Ben got along just like a brother and sister would. Sometimes they had their disagreements. We heard Ben say to his mom "Girls have no sense of humor!!! I DO NOT WANT TO PLAY PRINCESS!!!!!" He then came up to mama saying "I thought you said she likes to play PIRATES!" Next thing we know, they were running and jumping and playing in the nearby creek.
While mama was unpacking and the kids were playing, she saw papa carry Mimi back to camp soaking wet. Papa said that she had fallen in the creek and Ben came running to get help. Fortunately the creek is only one half inches deep. I think that she was more stunned than anything. Thank goodness for swimming lessons too. Thank goodness mama packed extra shoes too. When the trip was over, mama found out from Eloise that the kids were playing a game where one of them would pretend to be hurt or injured and the other one would save them. Other campers in the area heard them and really did think that one of the kids was hurt and complained to Eloise. In other words they were playing a game of "The Boy Who Cried Wolf".
Sometimes they would play what Mimi wanted and sometimes what Ben wanted. Then there were the times when Mimi did not want to play Ben's games and he would have a tantrum. Ben's mom said that since Ben is the only young child at home, he usually gets his way but that now he is learning that things are not always going to go his way. Then whenever Ben would say "Mimi's not listening to me!" the dads would say "Get used to it kid!" On the other hand one could hear Mimi tell Ben "Come here and let's talk aout it" which something she got from mama and her teacher.
Once everyone was settled in and got aqainted with each other, it was time for dinner. We all took turns cooking the variouse meals. throughout the whole trip. When dinner was over, Eloise took us a short distance up the mountains to where we could see several of the bats there. Quite interesting I might say.
Friday morning, Pat and mama took the kids up to the visitor center where Mimi and Ben went on a short hike and learned about the different trees and plants but most of all they became Junior Rangers. In the afternoon we took a drive to Sunrise and went hiking.
Saturday was basically the same only we went to Paradise and believe it or not there is still huge patches of snow on the mountains and mama fell and sprained her left thumb. So while the group continued on with the hike, Mama and her makeshift snowpack went down the visitor center to see if there was a first aid station. When she arrived there with her throbbing thumb the guy at the information desk says "One moment please" then proceeded to talk to some 5 year old boy by pointing out pictures in his Junior Ranger book. Then when I thought he was through, the guy at the desk proceeds to read the oath of becoming a Junior Ranger to this 5 year old who is by now just plain goofing around looking up at the ceiling saying ummm ummmm. Meanwhile I still standing clutching my snowpack thumb to my chest saying to myself C'mon kid hurry up @!#$%!!! Finally, finally, finally this kid becomes a ranger and I'm thinking ok now I can go to the first aid and they have NONE! The guy at the info desk takes me to the back room where he is rummaging through their scarsely supply of first aid and finally comes up with a ace bandage to which mama put it on herself. Together with the ace bandage and the advil that Tom had given to mama, there was finally and great deal of relief.
Sunday was basically the same as the two days before. After packing up the car, we all went back to Paradise for lunch and a short hike for everyone except mama and Eloise. Mama and Eloise stayed at the visitor center with the dogs Bently (dauschund) and Buddy (poodle). Both mama and Eloise had a wonderful conversation. Then it was time to head out of Dodge and go home. Mimi was quite upset about that. She wanted to stay longer and wanted to know why we had to leave. By the end of the trip everyone agreed that Mimi had given Ben a crash course of womanhood and what it is like to live with one.
On the way home we were planning to eat at Wally's but saw this dining car that looks like Carney's from back home in So. Cal therefore we decided to try it out. It was pretty good if I do say so myself. The funny part about it was they were running out of food. Mama would hear the other people place an order and the waitress would say "We don't have that. We ran out" then the people would order something else and the waitress would say the same thing "We don't have that, we ran out of it". Fortunately they had the blackberry shortcake that papa and Mimi ate for desert.
Don't have any pictures. Forgot to put the memory chip in the camera darn it! We were able to put a couple of pictures on the camera memory though. They are forth coming. Gawd it is good be home again and take a long hot shower

WHY, WHY AND MORE WHY'S
5 years old is such a wonderful age. You don't much to worry about. You have a live in maid, nurse, cook, plus someone to entertain you. On the other hand you have the ablility to wear someone out and you know it so you do it. Lately Mimi has been wearing mama out with a gazillion questions. Why is the sky blue? Why is that building there? Why do we live in this house? Why is our house between the other two houses? Why does Wade (Blake's dad) go to work? Why does my dad go to work? Why can't I go to Sara's house? Ten minutes later: Why can't I go to Sara's house? Half hour later: Why can't I go to Sara's house? One hour later: Why can't I go to Sara's house? AAARRRGGGHHH!!!!
She's asking all these questions while mama is trying to get our things together for our camping trip tomorrow. In between asking all these questions Mimi is running here and there. This morning mama took Mimi over to the library for our usual date with Erin, Liam and their mom Janet and baby brother Patrick. When it was over they all went running on the grass. Mimi wore them all out too. Our Mimi definitely keeps everyone on their toes and I would not have any other way.

CONCERT PIANIST
Last night after Blake had gone home, Mimi, Liam and Erin decided to put on a concert for mama. Just so sorry there in no sound. When I find out how to do it I will put sound on. Starting next month mama will call the piano tuner to have the piano tuned and Mimi will be starting lessons. Not sure where she will go to music school. Mama still has quite a bit of research to do on that subject.
MIMI AND THE BFF's
Yesterday both mama and Mimi spent most of the day shopping for our upcoming camping trip. Mimi who has not seen her friends in one day was getting a bit ansy to see them again. So off to the park Mimi, mama and Blake went. It was such a nice evening that almost everyone was there. Next thing that happened, Erin came running over to the park saying her mom Janet wanted to see me. To make a long story short, her dad Sean was cutting the grass with the mower and somehow cut his finger deeply. When Derek, Jim and mama arrived at the house to see what we could do. Sean was near passing out. His finger was cleanned and wrapped and he was sitting at the kitchen table sweating profusely. While Janet got the baby ready, I took the other kids Erin and Liam home with me. Mimi who did not know what was going on was just happy to have Erin and Liam come over to the house and Blake who absolutely hates to miss out on anything just had to come too. They all had loads of fun at the house last night. At 8:30 it was time for Blake to go home and at 9:00 was when Janet came by to pick the kids up. According to Janet, Sean ended up having 10 stitches to his finger. On one hand this is an unfortunate accident that happened to Sean, on the other hand I feel so very fortunate to know that we have neighbors such as Derek and Jim plus a few more others that are there to help out in a crisis.OLIVER HARDY
After our episode with the raccoons last week, our Ollie really scared the heck out of mama last night. She went downstairs to check on our provisions for our upcoming camping trip and it was dark in the garage as she opened the door and lo and behold who pops out of nowhere? Ollie, who is about the size of a raccoon. Mama's heart skipped a beat right then and there!
