FATHER / DAUGHTER DAY

Yesterday papa said to mama that she is the boss and that he has learned to listen to her everytime. Mama says that is a bunch of crock. None the less mama said that since she is the boss, tomorrow will be father / daughter day and that he and Mimi will spend the WHOLE DAY together and that he will do ALL of the cooking for them. That should put a kink in their colon.
Papa whinned to mama "but I have to do such and such, then this and that tomorrow". Mama said for him to suck it up. Just joking. She did tell him that on a daily basis her and Mimi don't do anything special. We do just the everyday stuff such as grocery shopping, school, playdates and so forth. What's important is the time you spend together. All in all, our "Greggy" is a great dad. Mimi loves reading with him at bedtime and I like listening to them in the next room.
After coming home from a long day of grandparents, birthday and Chinese New Year celebrations, they decided to start their father/daughter day early by watching a video Monsters Inc. They are downstairs now having a grand time together.

GRANDPARENTS, BIRTHDAYS AND CHINESE NEW YEAR CELEBRATION

Today started off with sleeping in for everyone EXCEPT Mimi who is naturally a early riser. Then papa was off to the memorial service for Loella's son Jesse. Unfortunately mama and Mimi had missed Blake's game. We somehow got the time mixed up with last week's game. So therefore Mimi could not cheer him on as usual. Mimi is a small girl with a great big mouth so to speak. She can yell quite loud "C'mon Blake!!! You can do it!!!"
In the afternoon Mimi and mama went to go and visit with grandma and grandpa for a little while. Along the way we stopped at a Izzy's and brother Bubba, Erin and brother Liam's house to give their Chinese New Year gifts. Mimi really enjoys giving gifts to her friends. Instead of the red envelopes and chocolate coins, Mimi had given grandma Chinese New Year stamps that she bought at the post office a while back. Grandma really liked that a whole lot.
Then it was on to Liam's birthday party. A good time was had by all. Mimi had such a good time that she did not want to leave. "Mama, just a 100 more minutes. OK?" she said. Finally mama was able to get her to leave.
Along the way to Connie's for the New Year celebration, mama got a little lost. Not by much tho'. Still getting used to the streets saying NW___ or SE___. Then there is the part where the street numbers go up then at some point go down. EGADS!!!
We finally arrived and met papa there. The girls really had a good time especially when it came time to open their presents.
Last but not least it was time to go to the Golden Phoenix Restaurant to watch the Lion Dance. They put on a really good performance. All in all today was a super good day.

ILL FEELINGS

Mama has just gotten over the flu/allergies and now she thinks that Mimi has it. For the past couple of days Mimi has been suffering from a stuffy nose. Up until today it has not slowed Mimi down one little bit. Early this morning we took the one hour drive to the Whole Foods market in Bellevue since it is the only one closest to us and they have the gummy vitamins with echanecia (not sure of the spelling). I have looked in every single grocery store in our area for that specific vitamin and there are NONE to be found. It seems to be the only kind of vitamin that will keep Mimi's respiratory system clear.

After the Whole Foods we went to the Uwajimaya Market in Bellevue. It's smaller than the one in downtown Seattle and not as crowded. There mama could buy the beef needed to make Sukiyaki which is as Mimi says DELICIOUS!

We made it just in time for school with a few minutes to spare. Mimi says to me "Mama, I don't feel too good." When that happens, I know she is not joking. So I asked if she still felt up to going to school and she said yes. We had bought chocolate coins at Uwajimaya and she wanted to share them with her classmates in celebration of Chinese New Year.

In a few minutes I am going to pick her up from school and we are just going to take it easy for the rest of the day.

Tomorrow the Putney's have quite a few activities going on all at the same time too!!! Papa is going to a memorial service for a friend of ours (Louella) who just recently lost her son Jesse in a police involved shooting a couple of weeks ago. It was on the news and everything. Mimi was invited to 2 birthday parties - Liam's and Josie's. We will be going to Liam's and not Josie's because although Mimi really likes them both very much, we received Liam's invitation before Josie's. None the less Mimi wanted to get something for Josie and she did. She also stayed up last night making Josie a birthday card which we brought to school today to give to Josie. Then as soon as Liam's party is over, we will meet with papa over at Connie's house for a Chinese New Year celebration and monthly playgroup meeting.

I'm sure Mimi will be feeling much better by then.

NEW WORD FOR THE WEEK

Mimi: Mama, is that difficult?

Mama: Do you know what difficult means? It means hard.

Mimi: Like your head?

Mama just hung her head and heaved a great big sigh.

BEAUTIFICATION DAY

Today after gymnastics mama and Mimi treated themselves at the hair salon. Mimi really loves going there and having her hair done just like the big girls and they enjoy playing with her while mama gets her hair done.

TWO GOOFEY GIRLS

Mimi and her friend Shirley aka Ling Ling enjoy a moment of goofiness. That's their best subject and what they enjoy doing the most.

NAP TIME

Mimi still takes naps majority of the time and most of the time she sleeps spread eagle. Not today.
